Unfinished sad comic

August 23, 2009

Here are some illustrations from an old comic I was gonna start in about 2005 or so, but I got bored.

Here is an adolescent soldier, all dressed up to go to war to defend against the enemies of the Empire of Dragontron IV.

His parents are very proud, but they do not realise that the enemy their son is battling this time are formidable.  Only the son realises that the enemy have technology, including bananatrons.  And a pencil-bowl staff cannot defeat a bananatron.

They don’t listen to his concerns, and his father starts singing The Hymn of Totally Winning, as his mother photographs the two of them.

Soon the soldier-collection truck arrives and he has to go.  His Mum wants him to take the photo but he wants her to keep it, as thinks he is going to die.

The soldiers are arranged in rows on the sides of the truck.  The boy climbs the rungs to find a seat, amongst cat calls and jibes about his mum.   The truck then pulls away down the street as the soldiers all sing the Hymn of Totally Winning, as proud parents stand out on the streets waving goodbye to their doomed sons.

Stranded…

August 20, 2009

I’m working on a little epic for the upcoming Stranded exhibiton.   The plot follows a fellow stranded on a sign during the end of the world.  He finds a sealed comic and ponders whether it would be worth opening, or leaving it in it’s seal in case it’s valuable.

I scanned it in greyscale so you could see all the many corrections I made!
